Grownboitrap is without a doubt one of the hottest artists coming up right now. The Florida rapper brings a very unique sound to every track and has been creating a wave of his own. Trap recently linked up with D Savage and Yung Bans to create a super group called “Block Boyz.” Trap has already given us hit records like, “Lit,” “Hunnit Bands,” and “Jit,” and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. We we’re able to meet up with the rising star; read what he had to say below!
JM: Before diving into questions tell our reader who you are.
GBT: I am Grownboitrap aka Trap, I am the best rapper in the world. The new Tupac, the new Biggie, the new nigga in charge. I am Haitian and probably the most genuine rapper to the fans. No one appreciates the audience more then me CUS they make me, as they do for every artist.
JM: What was it like growing up in South Florida and how did it inspire your music?
GBT: Growing up in south Flawda you either play ball or you go to jail or die or after school u got to work a 9-5 or have hell of babies. South Flawda rough, I’m from Palm Beach better known as CHOPPA city and imma put on for my city. My early days was tough cuz where I live I done seen it all dawg, everything and experienced it all. I started rapping cuz my sport dreams didn’t go as planned, It was too bad, had I focused I feel like I wouldn’t need to rap, but a nigga love this shit. I enjoy rapping I just don’t enjoy the fuck nigga industry lol. But I rap to feed my family and make my dad proud, making something of myself #RIP and give my mom, my love ones, and my dawgs the world. Beside me mumbling or Swagging you could tell I’m Flawda influenced by my lingo and word play it definitely influences me and cuz I love bass. We love our music to bounce while we in our chevys, dunks, sitting on 30s, and shit lol. Besides that I make that real trap shit lol.
JM: Who are some of your favorite artists coming out of Florida right now?
GBT: My fav artist out Florida rn, shit I really don’t know. I don’t really fuck with niggas like that, I respect the grind though.
JM: What artists are you rocking with right now throughout the scene?
GBT: Right now I don’t rock with none of these bitch ass puss ass names. Strictly the gang. Bans, D Savage, Jhay, Lil Wop, AR, Lil Toes, Young Nudy, Honcho. It’s not just bout who from Flawda, if you from Flawda I automatically support you til you show me you a fuck nigga. But the whole industry fuck niggas at this point, last of the real.
JM: How did Block Boyz start?
GBT: Block Boyz started cuz me, Bans, and D Savage are the hottest and we the goats. 3 real niggas came together. Shoutout to Jhay, he dropping soon. He’s also part of Block Boyz, but we got potential to be something special. Block Boyz world.
JM: What makes you different than other artists coming up right now?
GBT: What makes me different from these niggas is I’m not gay or a FUCK nigga. These niggas are bitches, they momma raise bitches, they peons. I’m 1K but for real I’m different cuz I’m me. I don’t ride nobody. I do me, stick to me, and my gang my niggas don’t need nobody. These niggas sell they soul, I’m a son of god. I hate these fake ass niggas they’re scared to show love, I’m not. They don’t wanna share clout everythings a competition. I don’t give a fuck. I want everyone to win, and I actually care about the fans and appreciate the love. These niggas rap about stuff they don’t do. Niggas like me and my bro Honcho we been getting street money before the deal. I don’t fuck with these rap niggas.
JM: What was it like having Pusha T reach out to you? Should we be expecting a collab?
GBT: Pusha T a real solid nigga and a nigga story who is real. I’m signed to Steven Victors, that’s his man. We a team. Love to Pusha, a real one in a fuck nigga industry. And shoutout to og Steven Victors. Me and Pusha got some on the way too. Love to big bro, my mentor. I hit him up cuz I seen he followed me, been love since, 1K.
JM: Are you working on a project right now?
GBT: I am working on my debut project bro. This shit gone terrorize the industry. So gas bro, and we working on Block Boyz project as well. Straight pressure.
JM: What separates your new project from anything you’ve released in the past?
GBT: What separates my project, well it’s my first. I’m repping the kids that come from nothing. I’m the voice for em who hasn’t been heard. It’s also the ultimate swag tape lol. Put my all into it.
JM: Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
GBT: 5 years from now, rich as fuck, but I’m not just saying that. Imma make it happen by working the hardest and keeping god first. Also, want to be a business man. I look up to Floyd Mayweather. I wanna be a good ass business man like him lol
